For our website Myself and Lorraine wanted to include images and examples of what our companys product is like. So i took a look on google to see what I could find and I found some interesting images online. As we were doing our website on accessories I went looking at fashion galleries online. I came across an interesting one because it is a website that has various images created by different people. http://www.artshole.co.uk/arts/fashion.htm

I really liked the images on this website as the stood out and were related to what Myself and Lorraine based our website on.

The reason this website caught my eye was because there are so many galleries on it which are all created by different people. There is a wide variety of images all very different, some are more exotic than the others. By looking on this website it give us me an idea of the images Myself and Lorraine would like to include in our own website.

For our webpage, Myself and Lorraine were interested in using an animated GIF for our "Lemma Raine" webpage. So I went and did some browsing on the internet and I came accross a website design page that I was interested in.

Accesories

For our assesement, Lorraine and I chose to do ours on accessories because we are both interested in it.
"Claire's Accesories" is the first webpage I decided to access. http://www.claires.com/ My first impression of the webpage was very impressive. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the young girl all dressed up with accesories to match. I was impressed to see that she was dressed in Autumn clothes which means the website is obviously updated on a regular basis.

In the middle of the webpage their is a clear circle with the with "claire's" written in the middle of the circle. Their are unusual designs branching out of the circle. It is very basic but it is definetly eye catching.

There are 4 buttons you can access. They consist of what place you want to access. This attacted attention and I liked this idea for our own webpage. It is easy to access and very up to date. You can get the latest fashion style by clickin the bottom right hand corner.

I thought this webpage was interesting and was closely associated with myself and Lorraines idea for our own webpage.

Lets Google It..

When we go onto google to research something it is common that we wil usually choose one of the first links because we think to ourselves "Oh this must be the better one Well thats what i want so Im going to click this one". Or if a person is looking for your site and they cannot find you because your link is on down a few pages, this puts the person at bother so therfore they may not wish to use it.

This puts forward the question "Should i pay google in order for my site or will i just settle with the organic way?". The organic way is when you put work into your webpage in order for it to be ranked high in the google listings without having to pay them. Paying is obviously the more convinient way for us but considering were now in a recession you may want to rethink. The way it works is you pay google acertain amount of money and every time someone clicks on your page from google they will place you on their first page. The question is "Is it worth the hassle?"

In my own opinion, If i had my own business and i wanted to have my page appearing first on google i probably would pay becuase it is so more convinient and a gauranteed price that i will appear on the first page so consumers will have no hassle finding me therfore no loosing out in the business.

Britney Spears

I think Britney Spears is jsut super. Shes been throught so much the last while and shes finally starting to get herself back on the rails.Between having two children and her ex Kevin Federline leaving her just on the spot she couldn't keep control of everything as she had media coming from every angle.

This girl has been in the limelight since she was only 16. Now she is only 27 with two children and been throught so much. We all were in shock when we seen the "New Britney" hit our tellys and papers everywhere. You know? The one who shaved her head? The one who didn't get to see her own children.

I felt sorry for her but now i think shes great for being able to get back on track and continue with her singing, respect due where its needed. Good for her!

DJ Ray Dartley Helps Launch Positive Age Week

Pensioners Maeve Reilly, John Murphy and Mary O Keefe joined DJ Ray Dartley for tea yesterday (1.12.08) to toast Age Action Irelands new initiative in the Merrion Hotel as a part of Positive Age Week.

The central aim of Posititve Age Week which runs from (1.12.08 - 5.12.08) is to dispel the many negative perceptions that surround ageing and to transform attitudes. It is also an opportunity to raise much needed funds for the charity.

Positive Age Week will run from Monday 8th - Sunday 15th of December 2008. Throughout the week, people are encouraged to organise parties that celebrate the elderly. They can be anything from a small family gathering to a street party. A nominated fund raiser at each party will accept donations from those attending.

Lorraine Dorgan, deputy chief executive of Age Action Ireland stated, "We need to celebrate the fact that we are living longer; that ageing is not a burden but an opportunity. I would like to encourage as many people as possible around the country to takr part in Positive Age Week."

Age Action Ireland is the national independant organisation on ageing and older people. Its main ain is to improve the quality of life of older people, especially those who are most disadvantaged and vulnerable, by enabling those who live full, independent and satisified lives for as long as they wish in their own homes.

X-Factor

Is anybody else really excited about next weeks semi final of the X Factor? Maybe its just because Im sick of watching boring day time telly while stuck on the couch so I cannoth wait for something good.

Im really hopin that Alexandre and Diana get throught even thought i think Diana maybe at a risk but I jus think Alex is fab! Her Britney song, Toxic on Saturday night was brillinat and she defenitly deserved to go through, I was delighted for her. As for wee Eoin, How cute is he with his wee northern accent. Im really happy hes gotten this far and it would be great to see him go throught to the semi finals, Him being Irish and all.

I have to say, I think Simon just gets better and better! Hes the only one who tells it like it is. Louis would jus sicken someone with his little boy antics but then again, Everyones different.

So heres hoping and the Best of Luck to them.

Sickness...

I could'nt wait for six o clock to come just so i could go home and get into my pjs and watch the X-Factor. I hadn't been well during the week and I thought it would just pass.. Oh how wrong I was. Of course when i got the text about Mumps in the college on Friday i freaked out but i think I'm safe thanks to the MMR. The day at work was flyin until 5 0 Clock hit and I started to feel really sick. The que was just never ending and it got to the stage where i thought six o clock was never going to come. I still am mystified as to how I escaped the place without getting sick before making it outside.

So home i went feeling awful and curled up on the couch to watch X-Factor which to my delight Alexandre and Diana are still in. Poor Ruth i thought she was brilliant.

I had a sore throat earlier in the week but Im just prone to having them so I ignored it and then people started telling me my eyes looked all swollen and that i looked Chinese, Thanks for that Lorraine. So late Saturday night i had a headache, felt sick, sore throat and pain in my ear. Rang into work sick on Sunday becuase i couldn't move from the couch.

So my Mammy took me on a wee trip yesterday to see the doctor and he looked down my throat and told me it was "disgusting". Great. So he took a blood test and a swab off my throat cuasing me to nearly choke, As if I wasn't bad enought and told me it could be tonsilitis or glandelur fever. So i left with a prescription, a doctors note and the advice that i should get my tonsils removed. So I'm waiting the results. And I have to take a trip up to Drogheda Hospital tomorrow.

So there you have it, I'm sick on the last week of college before Christmas..Typical.

My Thought on the Sex Industry

Where have the days gone where people used to have to actually walk into a shop to purchase porn videos? Long gone i tell you. Ever since the Internet hit our computers it is as easy as sitting down and logging on to the computer to get their entertainment fill off sex.

The sex industry makes millions nowadays because people are going online instead of the shops.Usually when i first think off sex websites i think of old men pretending to be people they're actually not jus to get chatting up girls and posting videos and the internet of them.

The sex industry is widely expanding as people are purchasing things such as videos and sex toys online. A lot of the time to save the embarrassment of walking into a shop and picking it up themselves, obviously this is understandable and i think this can be good for people who are into this kind of thing but yet to embarrassed to purchase them in public.

Celebrities always seem to get caught up in the world off sex online. How many times have we heard off celebs being caught doing sex shots online? Britney? Madonna? Even young pop stars coming into the limelight are being accused off it such as Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens.

What i think is ridiculous is the Sex Trafficking website. This is where men can buy woman and young girls from the internet who use their bodies for sex. In my opinion this is sick to even think what is happening to young girls and woman out there who are being sold for their bodies over the internet. Not only is this disgusting and utterly revolting but it is even worse to think that these men can take things further and video themselves performing different sex acts on the woman and children and will then post them on the internet.

So there you go.. My view on the Sex Industry.

My View on Virtual Communities...

I never really had an opinion on virtual communities because honestly, I never really knew too much about it and it never crossed my mind before. I am a big fan of bebo because i can talk to old friends or people that i havent been in contact with in quite a while. It is a great way for contacting your friends and most of the time you know who your talking too. On the other hand, chatrooms for teenagers can be very dangerous. There have been so many stories about young girls meeting up with people they have been talking to on the computer and feel they can trust this person until they meet them and that person is nothing like who or what they said they were. It is a sensitive topic and I feel that you have to be very very careful and aware when you decide to take upon meeting someone over a website.

I think that brand virtual communities are a great way of expressing your interests and hobbies. There are plenty of sites nowadays for people with similar interests so that they can discuss and share their views on the interest or hobbie that they share. An example of this is Fashion. People with a "Passion for Fashion" can discuss their interests and preferred designer labels on the website. It is also a great way to meet new people that have the same similar interests as you have because close friends may not understand your true passion and love for a particular thing therfore you can join and meet other peopel that know how you feel on the internet.

Throughout the lectures of Virtual Communites I learned that there is an Irish virtual community site called "Second Life" and basically it is a community gathering place for people and businesses that do not have a physical existence. I found this very interesting because it deals with real people working in this pub "The Blarney Stone" in Dublin that exits as a virtual community. People are able to talk to each other as if they are really in a pub only over the internet. People are able to dance and drink like you would in a normal pub. It is important that you remember you are dealing with real people and that it is not pretend. I find this "Second Life

very hard to get my head round and i find it quite strange that people would join this website rather than go to a normal pub and work in it. People come online to work in this "Blarney Stone". It is interesting but in my opinion it is very strange.

So there you have it, My own opinion on virtual communites and the way i feel towards them. They have both negative and positive sides but i feel the positive sides outweigh the negative.

Trip to The Cinema( Dont read if you havent yet seen the film)

Bobby Sands looked highly confused in this particular shot of the new film "Hunger". Maybe it was just the angle I had been looking at it, Maybe he was jus confused or maybe, just maybe he was about to give us all an insight to the Hunger Strike that happened in 1981 on the 1st of March.
It is a highly interesting film especially for anyone who has a particular interest in History as it gives us an insight into what happened during the Hunger Strike we have all heard about somewhere along the way. It is mainly based inside the prison and we dont hear anything about the background of the IRA's struggle for independence from Britain. It is is a very graphic film to say the least as the protest begins by prisoners refusing to wash themselves. There is a 22 minute converstation between Bobby Sands and the local priest he asked to come visit him. He tells the priest of his plan of a hunger strike that all 66 prisoners are going to become involved in the Hunger Strike.
Sadly, This hunger strike is to end Bobbys life as he fails in weakness and health and eventually he jus deteriorates into nothing. A highly touching film and the reality of what has happened in Ireland at the time of the Hunger Strike is very striking.

This Weekend!

What a hectic week is taking place. Thursday night was my friend Emma's birthday so we header out to the town and hit Silence with a bang. It was a good wee night have had better in the place. Into college the next morning for ten for an exciting morning, Graphic Design and Bsa, What more could you want. Then i went straight to work at half two having only finished college at 2. Worked untill 8 and came home. I was into work this morning at ten o clock to be greeted by a big delivery. Then we got very busy and I was on the tills for the majority of the day follwed by a bit of tidying at the end. What a hectic day and currently I am sitting waiting on my lift so i can hit the town.. again.. For another birthday.. Again.. In Silence.. Again. Getting sick of Dundalk much?? Never.

Christmas Time..

Its getting so close to Christmas and the closer it gets the more excited I'm getting. I haven't even stared to think about Christmas shopping and I'm always last minute with my shopping. I was in the Marshes the other day and I seen the new Christmas Shop in the Marshes I couldn't help but take a wee trip in too mosy at all the Christmas decorations. They had Christmas music and everything played in the background its lovely. Everybody was dressed in real Christmas colours and there was a great atmosphere about the place. Even in clothes shops everyone is starting to get in the Christmas spirit. I can't wait to get the exams done and out of the way so I can jus relax over Christmas and not have to worry about doing any study. Im going to go do some brwosing on the internet for Christmas present ideas. Thats all for now. Bye bye.

Monday Mornin...Hmmm Im tired.. Im Cold And Im Hungry.. AND i just want to go to bed!!:( I started to get to used to the whole holiday thing again and JUST like that im getting out of bed at quater to 8 on Monday morning and its freezin cold outside..And Im in the car headin back into college with a test at 3 and an assignement due for Thursday..Jus Livin for the weekend..Cannot wait to have this fruit campaign done and dusted! The midterm was Super.. Was workin for a lot of it but it was dead on because my hours were grand and sure i need the money for Christmas presents=] Speakin of Christmas how close is it.. Its coming so quick and i havent even started ANY shopping yet.. I dont mind it its jus the picking the presents part that i cant seem ta handle!! Cant wait for all the christmas tunes and decorations to start around the town!!:D Went to see "Saw5" the other night.. Its HORRIBLE!! Wanted to leave after the first five minutes but the rest wouldn't let me! Blood everywhere and cringing moments..Halloweens jus not the same anymore! When you were younger you were the one who got dressed up and went trick or treatin.. Now im taking my wee brother and all my wee cousins around the place..! Well theres 11 o clock so im gonna go and get food:D BYEBYE!!!!xx
